Community Highlights

Grand Rapids is designated as an Honorable Mention community because of its planning and engineering practices that support a comfortable and convenient pedestrian network.

• Grand Rapids has 56 miles of trails that connect schools, parks, and commercial destinations throughout the community. Another 60 miles of trails are included in current planning documents.
• The city has a robust Complete Streets Plan for such a small community. It shows that Grand Rapids is truly prioritizing pedestrian considerations in every project. Recent examples include the addition of multi-use trails during roadway reconstruction projects.
