Rancho Cordova is designated as an Honorable Mention community due to its comprehensive traffic calming strategies and dedicated traffic safety enforcement. Highlights of Rancho Cordova’s application include:

• In the past five years, Rancho Cordova has seen a decline in pedestrian collisions with no pedestrian fatalities reported.
• Rancho Cordova has prioritized pedestrian facilities and development requirements that encourage pedestrian activity including establishing zoning codes with mixed use development requirements.
• Rancho Cordova has a comprehensive traffic calming process with a well-developed guide on evaluation and ranking criteria. A designated Traffic Calming Committee for Rancho Cordova reviews all traffic calming requests submitted by residents, determines new traffic calming project areas, and approves projects created by Public Works.
