- Arcata has used a variety of treatments to calm traffic and reduce vehicle speeds, including raised crossings and bulb-outs in the downtown.
- Arcata has a small but well-connected downtown grid complete with sidewalks and links to local and regional trail systems, including ongoing work to link Arcata, Eureka and other parts of Humboldt County with the Humboldt Bay Trail.
- According to the American Communities Survey, 30 percent of trips to work are taken by modes other than motor vehicles.
